i really wanted to give this a four star bc i’m trying to be stingy with my five stars this year but I COULD NOT DENY MYSELF!!!
this is easily one of the best spicy “taboo” romances i’ve read. QB where have you been all my life?
i really enjoyed the tension & im normally not a huge fan of age gap romances but this one was done so well.
our FMC is mature & our MMC is emotionally mature enough too it just felt real & they fit together so perfectly (in more ways than one) lol
the pacing was great & i actually really enjoyed this book. it made me feel how The Maddest Obsession made me feel when i first read it, just so in love with the MMC.

There's style, there's substance, and there's this. That's not a knock on this, I promise.
Basically, there are about 15 days out of the month I would find this unreadable. Conversely, there are about 15 other days of the month when I need the absurd (with highly unrealistic HEA), most taboo piece of smut to fulfill my reading desires. This served that purpose very well, and I think I'll keep QB Tyler on my radar for this specific subset of books.
The smut of it all can get tiresome; I mostly skim that at this point. The taboo nature of these stories are the crack-like aspect I will come back for more of.

I love a good spicy, forbidden, taboo, age gap romance and QB Tyler gets the forbidden/taboo aspect right every single time.
I LOVED how spicy this book was and I could not get enough of this book. Everything was so well done and the narration was top tier. Dane Anderson and Maggie Thompson’s performances were spot on and I can’t complain about a single thing.

I think that sometimes people assume a spicy book is poor writing and that definitely wasn’t the case with this. The writing was fantastic and the story itself was full. It wasn’t just romance but held a lot about the inner workings of friendships and family relationships.
I wasn’t a big fan of how it just jumped into the present day. I felt that the type of relationship they had deserved a look at how they actually ended up together. The throwback to it in a memory felt kind of blah.

It gave me nothing to desire, no pacing at all.
The spice was given within the first 7 chapters so for me there was no reason to keep reading honestly, with these kinds of 'taboo' books I want to feel the desire and building but it did not unfortunately.

What a whirlwind! I thought this book did a really good job at handling the moral dilemma of a best friend’s dad trope and all that can ensue. It was steamy, sexy, and smutty. I enjoyed Theo and Avery and felt they were well-matched. Their relationship progressed in what felt like a natural, real, raw way—it didn’t ever crossover to creepy (thank god). I had a good time reading this book and getting to know these characters. It did feel like a bit of an abrupt ending from the last chapter to the epilogue, but overall, I enjoyed this book!
