The boxes have strings that tell you how long your life is. Everyone gets one, you don't have to look. Would you look? It influences everything everyone does and gave me anxiety.

That the beginning and the end may have been chosen for us, the string already spun, but the middle had always been left undetermined, to be woven and shaped by us."

This book consistently reminded me what was happening around me in the real world, so it didn't give me that escape book usually gives me from reality. I did enjoy the message and the book's hope for a better tomorrow.
This fascinating read is different to anything else I have read recently, and I cannot praise this debut enough. Completely captivating and riveting, this is a flawless story that will be a momentous success. The concept of knowing how long you have in this world is a controversial one, but this author’s smooth and gripping writing style makes this a book I struggled to put down.
Full of emotional and realistic characters, this centres around the relationships we have in life with others. This is thought-provoking and will make a terrific book club read as there are various subjects to dissect and discuss.
It is hard to review this, without adding spoilers, but this is a must-read for 2022. This is one of the easiest five-star reads of this year after completely blowing me away! I guarantee to be looking out for future work by this author. ‘The Measure’ is highly recommended to all!
Thank you, NetGalley, and Harper Collins UK, for a gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

DNFed at 150 pages. The characters were one dimensional, all the stories were too similar to each other, there was too much politics and the author tries way too hard to make this book seem woke. It really felt like the movie “Don’t Look Up” but bad.

Fascinating story concepts delivered with refreshing originality and exceptionally believable.
This is not a literary escape, this is a deep dive analysis of society and human behavior and what we do with global scale change. It's a severely plausible, pointed and poignant what-if scenario pushed to the extreme, but possible end of thought experiment.
Lots of explicit language unfortunately, but a surprisingly well balanced cast of realistic and diverse characters with just enough depth to keep each of them interesting, sympathetic and on the edge of your seat waiting for their outcomes.
(The high believability might be triggering as there are TONS of real world scenarios of hate crime, etc).
