I tried. I did. I ignored sexist views of both men and women, the whole "he/she is not like the others", the often stilted dialogue and continued "hate reading", as a friend put it.
But I noped right out of there at "After losing my husband to another woman's shameless sluttery, giving my heart to a man who has a target on his body and heart by probably several hundred women"". LADY. YOUR HUSBAND DID NOT STUMBLE AND FALL INTO ANOTHER WOMAN'S VAGINA DICK FIRST. WOMEN ARE NOT THE ENEMY. MEN MAKE CHOICES. THIS NARRATIVE NEEDS TO DIE.

tl;dr:
The heroine needs therapy and I need better characters so this is where we part ways. I made it to 54%.

This weekend, I had my 3rd or 4th read of this book. It is my very favorite of this series and of this author.

I'm not a rock listener. I'm not a long hair, tattoo guy lover. But I am a Lukas lover.

He might just be the man that should be molded for all heroes, all loves of our lives, all dreams and dreamers.

He is so different than his brother Vandal. As if they are one person, one the light and goodness and one the darkness and brokenness. Don't get me wrong, Lukas is broken but in the most beautiful way and where Vandal broke and I'm not sure he can be repaired, Lukas broke only to be put back together with gold and light and his spirit and heart grew by leaps and bounds.

As a woman who is 51 this year, I do get a bit tired of women in their 30s being portrayed as feeling over the hill. And on that note, before I get back to Lukas and Ivy, I would love it if Carian Cole would write the story of Storm's parents getting together or being a young couple or an older couple. It would be a hot book... him a rocker and her an author of romance books... If you are reading this Carian, please please please think of sharing their love and their story with us.

Back to Lukas. He is the epitome of sensuality, sexuality, vulnerability, and goodness. He is so full of life at such a young age and is truly an old soul. If I was still 24 or 36 or 45, I'd want to find my own Lukas.

I cannot wait to read his sequel as I am sure it will be full of fireworks and rollercoasters. I can't wait to see how he and Ivy deal with older kids, maybe even grandkids (given the age of Ivy's daughter).

My second fav of Carian's guys is Tor and I love that he and Lukas are so tight. They are two great guys and I love them.

Carian's men are talented, wounded, devoted, and dreamy. I love the pain and redemption each one goes through.

Her books are definitely worth the cost or the credit, depending on how you devour them. As soon as one of her books drops, I'm jonesing for the next one to fall.

Carian's books will entertain you. They will break you. They will leave you doubting. They will leave you hoping. They will, ultimately, make you believe in love!

I like how the book talked about a topic that it's not often talked about. A woman going out with a younger man. I definitely think it showed normal insecurities that go with it. I wish There was a little more to the end of it . especially after everything with Macy ,but is well written.

Goes down as another off my 2018 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book you heard about on Goodreads. Three books in and I’m starting to get a bit addicted to these men. They have tortured souls with darker pasts and are just want to find the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully right next to the woman they want to keep forever.

Ivy gets a shock when picking up her phone hearing her husband Paul say how much he’s missing – and wanting to fuck – someone else. Seems he wanted to have his cake and eat it – dick! The nerve of that guy, you just wanted to slap him, repeatedly. Swiftly leaving it kind of puts Ivy in a bit of a head spin. She is now a 36 year old single mum of two kids – Macy 17 and Tommy 7 – not knowing where to go from there. Seems her friend has a few ideas, namely by getting on someone new. Next ideas are for Ivy to do all the things Paul didn’t want her to. Top of the list being getting a tattoo and with her friend having a winners voucher with a well-known tattoo artist she all but throws it at her to make sure she goes for it. All she goes for is a tattoo but what she gets when she sees the guy whose doing it is a feeling like lightning hitting her with a spark a mile high. She may be getting more than she bargained for.

Lukas is an old soul in a young body, very well toned young body mind you. He’s creative too with all his tattoos and piercings. A body canvas that Ivy wants to never stop staring at. Well when he’s not looking because he’s far too young for her – well that’s what keeps going round her head. Seems Lukas felt the same spark she did and can’t wait to get his hands on her – for the tattoo that is, well maybe more if he’s lucky. With the design he’s done she will have to come back a few times and it doesn’t take long for him to question his own rule about not dating clients. He can tell she is shy but beyond cute in his eyes and with him being such a good listener doesn’t take long to figure out what she might be afraid of. Mainly being hurt again and also their age difference. She might by nervous and shy around him but he isn’t one to give up on what he wants and from the moment he met her he knew she was it.

The chemistry between them is so strong it would be impossible to miss. Once she finally gets the age thing out of her head and gives them a chance she starts on one fun full ride. Talk about heat just getting hot, hot and hotter! Now Lukas can be the sweetest guy at moments – driving all the way to hers to give her a hug because she said he gives the best and she wanted one – but other times it’s like a beast has been unleashed and she just holds on for the ride of her life. They are slowly starting to build something real but you know things are never going to go completely smoothly. Especially with an ex who suddenly realizes he doesn’t like the idea of her being happy. Think he wanted her to be a hermit forever after he left – again complete dick! Then you have her kids thrown in the mix. Tommy was sweet, you just loved him, but just when you think you have a clue about what Macy is like she throws you a curve ball. Ivy and Lukas just need to believe in each other to keep what they have. Soul mates playing a part in bringing them back together when the time was right. Age is just a number and when Ivy and Lukas are together it becomes irrelevant around what they truly have.

I liked that this one intercepts with the other stories so far but also made me sad, as I knew what was going to happen to Vandal. The ending kind of threw me a bit and got me thinking. Are they really never going to tell?? That would be a big can of worms waiting to pop. Also what’s up with those black feathers and how come Asher is always the one to help the women see things a bit clearer? Interesting series so far so on with the next I say. Talon’s should be good but I do want to know more about Asher, he’s very mysterious to me at the moment.

I received a copy of this book from Give Me Books for my honest review.
