"He’ll find her when she is falling to pieces or when she’s whole. There’s comfort in that. Comfort in knowing he’ll be there when no one else can be.”
--------
Heartbreak, Love, Tragedy, and Lies all wrapped together in a peach stained satin bow.
This book perfectly captures how fast life can go by and how love can be the only thing holding you together.
I feel like any lovers of either The Invisible LIfe of Addie Larue or Circe would DEVOUR this story.
It truly captures the destruction that war has caused the world and how humanity can be hard to find, no matter the decade. I found myself not able to put this book down and crying randomly while thinking about how lonely being immortal truly sounds.
-----
If I were to describe this book with 2 songs I would choose :
-The Prophecy By Taylor Swift and Evermore by Dan Stevens

emotional hopeful mysterious sad slow-paced

This is such a beautiful story. I would have loved to understand the MMC more. Anna is a fierce and protective FMC who just wants to do some good in the world. I liked the way the fantasy elements are woven into the historical events. Anna is not only seeing the beauty in the world but the ugly truths of it as well.

I didn’t cry because the book was sad, I cried out of just pure emotion. Of being seen. Of feeling love. Of watching others in pain and being helpless to stop it. Of finally getting confirmation of your feelings being reciprocated.
It’s such a beautiful telling of a woman being loved by a being who knows her and is fascinated by her as a person. Who sits back and just marvels at her from afar. While she goes off and learns of deep sadness, pain, and love as she shifts with the world around her.
8 Centuries. EIGHT CENTURIES of history and growth and love. And as the reader, you feel those 8 centuries as they pass.
And I’m waiting for the audiobook of book 2 to come out. The narrator did such a wonderful job I can’t imagine inhaling this story any other way.

Slow burn, zero spice, vaguely historical and myth based themes.

90% of this book is leaps through time where the characters meet but can't stay together "because it's dangerous".

This book is incredible. I found this take on immortality to be refreshing and unique. Is it a gift or curse? It's what you make of it. Anna is so strong and so compassionate. She lives through so much heartache in her centuries on Earth. The romance is deliciously slow and filled with such yearning. The declarations of love and emotion are eloquent and passionate.
