I LOVED Remy. His story is the one I’ve been waiting for an it did not disappoint. Such a great story. Be prepared to have all the emotions.

I don't know what happened to the review that I wrote before this but I am going to have to rewrite it. I guess I really loved Remington. He was probably my second favorite of the Winslow brothers. I deducted a full star because of a lack of research into New York City. The whole series I struggled with the cars driving around NYC willynilly but I could suspend disbelief on that note. But I was not able to forgive in this book was calling the FDNY New York's finest, when they are in fact, in New York's bravest. I'm also really annoyed with the ending of the book. But that's not like a negative annoyed, I was left wanting more from them. And apparently, there is an extended epilogue probably if I subscribe to their newsletter which I am about to go do just because there's a little teeny cliffy and I want answers.

I devoured this book the way I fell in love with Remington Winslow he deserves all the love in the world all of it I love this man I loved the relationships that he had with his family I loved everything about this book it was amazing and the way that he took on the role as a dad without actually being a dad and also not thinking that he was being a dad was literally everything like Daddy Remy please I love him and honestly I loved all the other characters this is the first book in the series that are read that I read out of order yes am I going to read the other ones yes!!!

I also love Maria I love her from the beginning I love her and I also loved how she ended up being pregnant it’s honestly such a heartwarming and sad story like this book made me tear up a couple times but it was beautiful totally worth the read just honestly for all the characters in the comedic relief the little spicy bits that come in between I love this book totally worth it and when I tell you I devoured this book I devoured this book!!!

I enjoyed how the past scenes were worked into the book as a parallel to what was happening in the present. It was realistic and organic how someone would say something, or an action, would evoke memories of the past.
This entire series has been wonderful and Remy's book was not a disappointment. The reunion of Remy and Maria was memorable and their reconnection was done so well. I loved how Remy started calling Maria's daughter "our girl" and "my girl" very early on, claiming her before he really realized what he was doing. I enjoyed how Remy's actions were so automatic and very, "this is what I'm doing because I want to." Even though he avoided relationships for a decade and a half, he experienced no angst or second-guessing regarding seeing Maria or being a part of her life.
I definitely recommend this book. Reading the other books in the series isn't necessary but highly recommend for maximum enjoyment of the entire book.

I wish there was more angst.
I’m learning that I’m not as much of a fan of stories where the only real obstacle in the couple’s way is neither of them telling the other that what they have is what they want forever or “officially”.

If there was an ex or some issue that was keeping them from just admitting their dating, then it would have made this that much better.

It’s still getting 4 stars because Remy (other than saying he doesn’t want an official relationship) is SUCH a good guy and he obviously cares so much for Maria and her baby Izzy (who he freaking delivered in a stopped elevator!!!)

3.5 ⭐️

The Redo by Max Monroe

I finished The Redo this morning which finishes out the Winslow Brothers series. It wasn't my favorite of the four, but it was an overall cute story and wrapped up the series nicely!

This book follows Remy and Maria. They were high school sweethearts who broke up when he graduated and went off to college. This book opens with them reconnecting during a blackout in an elevator (love a good forced proximity trope!).

But plot twist, shes pregnant with her late sister's child.

Now, as a childfree by choice woman, pregnancy/baby tropes *really* aren't my thing. If I weren't already invested in this series, I probably wouldn't have read it. However, I needed to know how all their strories ended so I finished.

Overall the story was very sweet. Remy and Maria built a strong relationship that gradually happened to grow based on their past history, his wanting to be there for her as she was thrust into single mom life, and genuine love for one another that never really went away.

I give this 3.5 ⭐️, knocking off a half star for the pregnancy/baby trope. I'd still recommend it, but it will make more sense if you read the first 3 as there are a lot of characters and references to prior books.

Tropes:
Pregnancy/baby
Single mom
Forced proximity
Second chance romance

I really enjoyed the start of this, the premise is so fun. I came across this recommendation when I was looking for an accidental pregnancy palette cleanser. But this is a twist in that Remy gets trapped in an elevator with his heavily pregnant high school sweetheart, whom he hasn’t seen in like twenty years, twice. The second time ending in him delivering her baby in the elevator. Remy was so sweet and such a daddy and he was obsessed with this baby but beyond that, this book fell a little flat. A lot of the dialogue was unbelievably cringe and some moments just felt silly and unnecessary. And for a 400 page book, nothing really happened, there was no conflict or stakes or anything really. What I presume was meant to be the climax of the story was a page long fight in which the immediately made up. I skipped through most of the second half there were just pages and pages of bone dry cringe group chat texts between these brothers, it was just irritating. If you’re looking for an easy palette cleanser, there are better ones out there.
