as i was reading this book, i thought that the author of this book decided to add such gruesome things into this book to shock the readers than to prove an actual lesson. by the end of this book, you realize that there was no lesson. the closest you can say the lesson was that "human beings are all awful people who want to consume and murder one another." overall, this book was essentially pointless. the idea was good, but the execution was awful and unbearable. i'm glad to be done with this terrible book.

Excellent writing, had me absolutely gripped and finishing the book in one day. So disturbing I honestly think half of the reason I read it so quickly was to get it over with, but I couldn't look away. It was like a really horrific car crash, in book form.

Not for the faint hearted, if you have any triggers at all I'd strongly advise to approach with caution, if at all.

I am a big fan of cannibalism in media when it is a metaphor for something but this was a brand new take on it that took all the beauty out of it. If this were written by a man, I wouldn't be rating it this high. It's impressive how much of a man's mindset this really told. Marcos never tries to justify his wrongdoings. He knows he does bad things so the text makes you rely on him to be good. It's not some slow decent into madness, you just slowly realize he's just like everyone else. Losing all respect for the narrator by the end of the book really makes you feel hopeless about this universe. Like it was your choice to read a horror novel so now you have to sit with it.
