This period in history is usually seen through the lens of intensity and dedication to a higher cause - as it should be. However, the perfect balance between friendship, personal growth, romance, and ambitions does exist, as this author conveys so well. This is my second time reading it, and have found it just as charming and insightful as the first time.
Would strongly recommend to readers who enjoy historic romance, but with some existential weight to it.

4 Stars. Given the genre we knew how this would end, but heaven help me, I had no idea how it would get there. Cute and entertaining, but lord did these characters constantly get in their own way. Almost too much, but that’s the Pride and Prejudice, Beatrice and Benedick scenario for you. Will definitely continue with the series, and hope they’re mentioned even if they aren’t the main characters, because I’m so curious to see how Annabelle and Sebastian will weather the scandal.

Books this lightweight ought to have a paperweight place atop them so that they don't float up to the ceiling. On a difficult day, this was a good-enough distraction. Lots of romance readers thought it was fabulous; I'm not a romance reader, so that I think it's a good distraction should garner some points for it.
