I love how Butler depicts humanity. This showcases exactly how I think humans would react to this situation, especially today’s humans. This makes you think about colonialism, xenophobia, social class, racism, gender identity/expression, homophobia and just how we treat other beings.

I think Butler’s mind is very weird but she writes incredibly well and I will continue to read and reread her books. I didn’t love this one as much as the first one, but it’s still really interesting and I like how we got to follow Akin and his growing understanding of and empathy for the humans.

I don't know how to review a book that I both thought was well written and I didn't really like.
This book was more interesting than part 1 of the series but only just. The plot is good. Even better than the first part.
The characters are fairly unlikeable or tropes. The colonizer / colonized subject matter was explored again, and deeper. It was both good and probably over done in my opinion.
I listened to the audiobook. The reader does a good job.

really 2.5

Still weird! But Akin is a very likeable character and it was cool to see how he bridged two worlds.
