It was the most amazing and heart melting book I've ever listened or read. I will never forget April whose courage inspires me a lot and ,of course, Bear. Even if it is a child book, as an adult and a teacher I recommend everyone to read this book. There are so many things to learn from April Wood.
This book was so beautiful and charming.
It had many important messages about environmentalism, finding your voice and doing what's right, all without reading as overly didactic or preachy but still making the points clear for the intended age group.
It was pacy and the short chapters allowed me to feel like I was really getting somewhere and meant I finished the book within a day.
Whilst reading, I reccomended the book to my partner's 10-year-old niece only to learn she was reading it too, so we were able to read our books independently but together.

Brilliant! Hannah is a local author to our store, and told us a few months back that she was releasing her debut book soon. The announcement received a whole bunch of press interest, and the cover quote is from actual Michael Morpurgo, quite the plaudit... I just read our advanced copy and loved it!!
Considering the bitterly cold setting (the magical - and real - Bear Island near Svalbard) the book is a really heartwarming read. It tells of finding friendship in the most unexpected of places, and opening up our eyes and our hearts to nature. Far from being hopeless around the central themes of climate change and the melting ice caps, the story leaves you full of hope and the desire and belief that if we all do our bit, we can help to protect our planet and the creatures we share it with. Kids (and adults) should read this & I'm excited to talk to customers about this once it is released in Feb!
