Great children’s book for older readers (9+) to introduce a larger novel that still includes illustrations. Great storyline with climate change at risk core, delivering a powerful message of hope that resonates with the target reader audience.

Beautifully written and illustrated.
I loved the relationship April builds with Bear, and how her understanding of climate change builds from this.
Also explores loss and grief, and how April and her dad are struggling with this.

Superbe roman jeunesse dans la lignée de Morpurgo. Après le décès de sa mère, April part vivre un an avec son père sur une île dont il va étudier la météorologie pendant qu'elle est livrée à elle-même. Elle se lie d'amitié avec un ours polaire échoué et coincé sur l'île, qu'elle va aider à rejoindre les siens. Adorable fiction à la fois tragique et réjouissante, pleine de l'empathie de l'enfance. C'est si bon !
