I'm not sure that this book gave me the same insight and reconfirmed or disproved my already existing mentality and beliefs as the previous author's book "The Subtle Art To Not Giving a Fuck". Still enjoyable, but would I read again?... Probably not.
Actually even worse than the first book. This one is written in textbook language with a few f-bombs thrown in to remind us who the author is. I can’t believe it, but I actually prefer the writing in the first book. This is boring and wandering and Manson can’t seem to hold a thread.
The only sections worth noting were in the “self-control is an illusion” chapter but even then his language is getting in its own way.

The author’s assertions are riddled with misogyny and ableism, and lack contextualization in the real world. The writing style was also grating and came across like he was trying too hard to sound relatable.
I probably would have given this five stars until I hit the last chapter. That was a wild ride. It's not that it's completely out of the realm of possibility (although it does get nihilistic despite the author's argument against nihilism), it was just an abrupt transition and disconnected from the rest of the book.
The last chapter would be interesting to use as an auxiliary text in a unit about the Scythe trilogy. Perhaps before launching into a research project.

More so a collection of essays than anything really. The book wasn't baaaad and it also wasn't anything to write home about either.
To be honest I think MM is just wildly overrated.

A modern take on philosophy. Not what I had expected and it hints that one day computers, artificial intelligence, and robots will rule the world. Love Mark Mansons style of writing, I hope that he writes more.
I loved The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck and I was looking forward to this book, but I'm very disappointed. I don't mind swear words, cynicsm and a shot of sarcasm (I love them), but in this book, all of it felt forced and cheap and the book itself was a huge let down I couldn't bring myself to finish.
The first half of the book is brilliant. The second half made me want to jump off a building. Still good enough to purchase my own copy after borrowing from the library.
