Interesting, but seems a bit random at times.

Without the subtitle, "A Book About Hope" I couldn't have said what the theme of this book was. It wasn't linear in making its points and quite often seemed like a series of anecdotes. I started to wonder if the book was actually written as a series of essays instead of one cohesive tome.

What I can say, without a doubt, is that each chapter is interesting as hell. Whether Manson was talking about the evolution of technology, various histories of the world, or what we know so far in the human psyche, it was all fascinating.

Looking forward to the next Mark Manson book.

I can say the author either misrepresents or misunderstands at least his sources on gender and neuroscience, the fields I'm acquainted with. I don't trust his interpretation of anything else.

The 1* is for the quote which I'd never heard before, from poor small depressed schoolboy Isaac Newton: “I am a little fellow. Pale and weak. There is no room for me. Not in the house or in the bottom of hell. What can I do? What am I good for? I cannot but weep.“

Mark Manson is Mark Manson, a enjoyable reading, a step by step understanding with funny parts in between.

It was good but it almost felt like it dragged or we were going in circles
