I am upset that we did not receive what we were promised in the Halloween scene from the first book.

i gave ninth house a lot of leeway but i should have read hater reviews before getting my hopes up for this one. it was designed in a lab for booktok people and i am not one of them :')

I heard pretty negative reviews going into this one, but I was thoroughly entertained. It had the same pacing and world-building as the first, so if you enjoyed that element in the first round, I'm sure you'll still be sucked in on this one.

The story was dark, creepy at times, dove into some heavy topics, and definitely had good tension and build up. I will say, the biggest plot point of the book was a bit anticlimactic and rushed, but as a whole, it wasn't terrible. Toward the end, I kept getting a few of the secondary characters confused, but I chock that up to me being busy while listening to the audiobook.

I liked that Dawes got to play a bigger role in this book, and it was nice to see her get the recognition she rightly deserved. Obviously due to the setting and nature of this book, there's a ton of demonic talk and references of hell, so if that's something off-putting to you, I'd go ahead and skip this one.

Can't wait to see how it plays out!
