I liked this book. In fairness, I listened to it and have been distracted, so reading it again would be helpful. I really appreciated the character development. I love a flawed main character. I also really appreciate a story that doesn’t focus on a romantic pair. There is a ton of platonic love and friendship. The story and characters felt complex. I would 100% read another book in the series.
If you are squeamish about animal death (ie: the direwolf death in GoT was harder than the red wedding) skip the part about the pet rabbit. You will get everything you need from the context, and the image will stay with you.

Looooved this book even more than the first one (although admittedly I read that a while ago and don’t remember 100% of the details to be able to compare well), I really appreciated Alex’s journey to finding her self-worth, I also really appreciated the relationship between Alex and Darlington and the fact that this didn’t turn into a full blown romance (not that there’s anything wrong with romance but I don’t feel like it would’ve fit with this book/story). I also appreciated how the characters came together and supported each other with what they each needed. I’m still wondering about Walsh-Whitely and what his whole deal is and what will happen between him and the current members of Leathe, and how Alex and Darlington are going to close the portal to hell - I feel like the ending was left a little more open-ended than I’d have liked and yet I feel confident that they can handle it based on the rest of the book. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend if you tend to like books that are dark and adventurous, especially if you like a dark academia vibe.
