For something that started out as kind of a light farce, that last act is an explosion. Loved it.

liked the beginning but it ends disappointingly, not because of the plot but just because of the way it unfolds

Read this because I'm going to watch the Broadway production starring Jessica Chastain.

The fact that I have had to read this 5 times during my years as a young school-girl, and decided to pick it up again, because why not.

A high 4 stars, maybe 4.5. I assumed the ending would just be a resolution of the plot (which involved "well-intended" dishonesty and secrets), but instead the plot outcome came a few pages early, from which the story sprang to a higher level, an unexpectedly deeper ending.

The play is an early influence for feminism, though Ibsen denied that intention and instead claimed "humanism."
