I am pleased at how it ended. It could have lasted longer especially the last dramatic scene. The plot was good. I couldn't guess what would happen next. The characters were good. I love the small group made up of Archer, Jenna, Cal & Sophie. I think Cal is my favorite besides Sophie. I think I love Sophie's character so much because she seemed like such an ordinary girl with normal thoughts and tendencies like everyone else. The ghost possession thing was very cool and a great weakness and strength. I honestly wad sad her dad couldn't get his magic back. I thought maybe they would find a way. The author definitely left the ending open and the possibility of more books.

I have a couple of questions since finishing.

1. When Sophie dies will she be going to hell because she is a demon? Will her dad not go yo he'll because his demon was taken out of him?
2. Why is there a cat on the cover of all three books? I remember in the first book where she was disappointed because she could not have a t as liking cat. But it seems weird to have it there.

Review to come after I'm done freaking out over this book's awesomeness. THE FEELS. *sobs* Why is this series over???

I really enjoyed this YA series. The female protagonist blends snark with vulnerability. Just the right amount of teen angst with good character development and a solid plot.

I wasn't so sure whether to read this one after my disaster experience with the sequel, but since I already had a copy and don't like leaving series unfinished I decided to give it a go. Initially, Spell Bound went slightly better than the second book, and I started to enjoy the sarcastic kind of humor and writing style in general again. Then... BOOM! The annoying romance and frustrating love triangle was back to ruin the day again, and things went downhill from there. I hate that the romance has ruined a potentially excellent trilogy for me, especially since I really enjoyed the first book and thought it had so much potential. Sadly, the main focus is on the romantic scenes, pushing everything else into the background and making other aspects of the story suffer from lack of development. Potential not exploited for me... Although I'm having a feeling romance fans will react differently to both sequels. Oh well, at least I now know for sure what my reaction was to Spell Bound, and I won't be left wondering. I guess we can't like them all, can we? And I guess I'm kind of at least part of the problem here.

omg there needs to be another one

I began reading this series because of the fantastic covers, but I stayed for the amazing characters, fantastic plot, and witty dialogue. Reading Spell Bound, the final book of the series, I can still say that all of these things are true. I am still in awe of the story that Rachel Hawkins has created, and its ability to make me laugh out loud and also break my heart.
Sophie is rather lost at the beginning of this book, understandably so. After the dramatic events of Demonglass, Sophie is at loss. She is not sure about the fates of most of the people she loves, and she finds herself questioning all the things she thought she knew. Meeting the Brannicks was an absolutely perfect twist to the story, and I only wish that I would have been able to spend more time with the stories of the Brannick women. Archer and Cal both play important roles for Sophie, and I am still in love with the way the love triangle comes to a head. This is one of my favorite love triangles, because I absolutely adore both Archer and Cal.
My one major complaint with Spell Bound is that so much happens. At times the story seemed a little bit rushed, but I will admit that the constant twists and turns also kept me completely engrossed in it. The way the many elements of the plot pull together was compelling and, if nothing else, utterly dramatic.
Overall, I think this was a wonderful conclusion to the Hex Hall series, and I am very happy with the way things turned out. I will admit there was one moment that absolutely broke my heart, but there were also many moments had me grinning. I have heard statements about a possible spin-off series, featuring one of the characters that appeared in Spell Bound. I must admit I am thrilled with the idea, and am crossing my fingers that Izzy (Isolde) Brannick is the featured character, because she totally and completely deserves her own series. I would definitely recommend not only Spell Bound, but the entire Hex Hall series.

A bit annoying, but it's okay, I'll just rate it a 4

I loved this so much. There was action and adventure and of course romance with my favorite pairing. I love Archer Cross so much. He is so sarcastic and devoted to Sophie, and yet rarely ever calls her by her first name! There are so many amazing scenes that I love. The hologram, where Sophie finds out he's alive, but he is non-coporeal, the time Elodie takes over Sophie and Archer has to see her and Cal and he's ready to let her go if she wants. The scene where Archer calls her his girlfriend for the first time and says they are basically married in some cultures. Literally following her into hell. And the fact that he gave up his entire life, his whole family to be with her and help save her, thus making him a target for his former family. So much awesomeness. I need more of these two!
