This was just lovely. A short story/novella about two guys in Portland that warmed my heart. I particularly enjoyed the gentle exploration of grief and internalized stigma.

Short and sweet and now I want a coffee.

Served Hot is a very enjoyable novella with a nice amount of character development and a decent emotional punch. Definitely worth the time. Annabeth Albert continually delivers solid m/m romance with good characters and nice plots.

Simple story that can be read in one sitting. Kinda p*rn but also had some depth as it discussed grief. Repetitive but still cute and fulfilled the purpose it serves! Also Robby is not a hot name I’m sorry.

some cute quotes:

“Hadn’t he realized that there wasn’t much I wouldn’t do for him?”

“But this was different. There was no destination. We were already there…”

I hated how what we had kept reminding me of what I’d never had with Craig…We could have had this. We should have had this.” “You deserved it,” I whispered.

- this quote is surprising beautiful and very relatable to my personal experience with love and grief

 3 stars - I liked it

This was a wonderful slow burn romance. David is a reserved and shy man who is trying to work through his grief and find love again. He was so sweet and nerdy that I instantly loved him. Robby is an outgoing and sweet man who is trying to build his confidence and go after what he wants. Robby and David’s relationship built slowly which made it feel very real, especially considering David is still dealing with his grief over the loss of his partner. These two were so sweet and perfect for each other and I loved seeing both of them let go of their pasts for a future together.

Trigger warnings: unexpected death of partner from brain aneurysm; grief; outing briefly mentioned;
