There were a lot of interesting concepts here, and I got the gist of it, but parts of it just straight up went over my head. I would have liked to learn more about the underwater world.

A very interesting premise that never quite gets off the ground. African American's being able to be modified and given 40 acres is a great concept. However most of the story focused on the opposition these new mermaids faced. It's not farfetched to imagine that racist would still try to harm racial minorities under the sea, however I thought that was focused on too much. And the ending was confusing and disheartening

Sci-fi and mermaids and based on a song? Yes please!!

This is essentially a songfic, for those of you familiar with fanfic, and I'm in love with it. I need a full universe of this world.

Great Premise

Great premise but the execution was not my cup of tea. Found it a bit tough to follow, but maybe it was me.

I really loved the idea of this, but the way the idea was explored did not work for me. I like that short stories/ novelettes can be experimental and interesting and have unconventional structures, but at the same time, in SF, when you convey a new world, it has to be a clear new world/ future/ planet. And it did not feel clear to me, more suggested. I acknowledge that it is possible I am missing some background to understand it. The concept of ripple out economics was superfun though and clear in what it is!

As other reviews have pointed out, this was an interesting concept that wasn't executed well.

I don't think short stories are for me. This felt all over the place and I have absolutely no idea what I read.

The only thing I can tell you about this story is that it is about mermaids… other than that. Nada. I did not enjoy this story as much as the others and it kept me interested only because I love mermaids. Would not recommend it .

Kinda confusing. I feel like it needed more back story to fully understand.

This book, like the other one I read in this series is very confusing. lots of convoluted language, no real ending, and too many acronyms for such a short book.
