Another chuckle-fest of ridiculousness from David Walliams. Just what you need to cheer you up in an underwhelming festive season when you can't be with your loved ones. Best read aloud to children - something I'm looking forward to doing when my grandson is old enough and I finally get to see him again.

Erg gelachen, lekker realistisch verhaal ook ;)

I can definitely understand why my 10 year old cousin loved this book as much as he did. For me, it wasn’t as good as The Ice Monster which I read towards the end of last year. However, it was fun and super easy read!

Not as good as his other books

Read- August 2019 for The N.E.W.Ts (My O in Potions) and The Magical All Nighter
- I have almost completed my goal of reading all of David Walliams' published works. I adore Walliams not just as an author but as a person and you can really see his sense of humour and personality shine through in his novels.

I'm slogging through book #6 of an epic fantasy series at the moment and needed a light and silly read for just a day to give me a break. This latest David Walliams book fit the bill perfectly though it was a lot sillier and outlandish than his earlier stuff, reminding me of the Treehouse series by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton. And the Fing reminded me of the space creatures in the hotel elevators in Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. Still, good harmless childish fun.

I think that this was the weakest David Walliams's book I read so far.

A charming and funny meditation on the perils of materialism aimed at a young audience, but with enough clever nuances to appeal to adult readers too. Tony Ross’s illustrations are wonderful.
