All the stuff I liked about the previous book is largely ignored here for the sake of throwing a bunch of stuff into the plot and seeing what sticks. None of it did, though. I didn't feel like Deka was emotionally invested in what was going on around her, so it was hard to care about it, even if it was super messed up and appalling.

I liked this narrator a bit better than the first one.

A fantastic follow-up to The Guilded Ones.

This is such a rich world - the plot intricate and clever, the characters compelling to the point I share their pain and joy.

A number of twists I did not see coming and I cannot wait for the final book is this awesome trilogy.
