The blurb would make you think more of the book would involve the ghost ship. Instead, it’s 300 pages of character backstory before the concept for the ship even comes about. It’s not BAD backstory. But the last 100 pages were better than/more true to the blurb than the first 350

I adore Mosse, and I’ve loved the Burning Chambers books so far - it took a little to get into this one, perhaps because it’s been a while since the last one, perhaps because it’s jumped forward in time again. However, once I bedded into the story I loved the characters and enjoyed how it progressed - weaving Mosse’s characters into the historical events. Looking forward to the final chapter in the quartet.
