http://nwhyte.livejournal.com/1915887.html[return][return][return]In general I have very much enjoyed the Torchwood novels, and I would have enjoyed this one as well, if the ending had not turned on the convenient disposal of an autistic child's life. That just makes me sick.

The premise was pretty good and the alien was pretty interesting, but the representation of autism was really inaccurate.

I miss this tv show. So why not read a book based on the show. It was so much fun to revisit Jack, Gwen, and Ianto.

Into the Silence was actually a solid read. Nothing too off the wall and it had its moments of Torchwood innuendo time to keep the mood light.

I like the Torchwood novels because they are quick and easy while still be entertaining, and this was no exception. However, it did lack the fundamental humour that is ingrained in the original show and, to be honest, the story line was fairly basic and the ending did not come as a surprise at all. I myself called it from page 60 or so, and I'm not a very reliable predictor when it comes to book endings.
I still want to know what happened to Drew; he and Ben were cute.

I'm not really sure how to go about rating this book, so I guess it gets three stars. I've not only never read a Torchwood novel, I've never actually read any novelization of any TV shows, so I don't really have a yardstick by which I can measure the worth of the book.

This was good enough that I'll check out more Torchwood novels, but the writing was a little stiff. There are probably better TW fanfictions out there than this. That said, I miss Torchwood and I'm glad I read it, and it was a fun breezy brainless read.
