Animal Attraction

Jill Shalvis

3.93 AVERAGE

Animal Attraction, the second book in the Animal Magnetism series by Jill Shalvis, was a quick and fun read that reaffirmed my love for the series that started with Animal Magnetism.

Dell and Jade had a chemistry that ignited off of the page and straight into my heart, and theirs. Afraid to love, and of commitment, Dell is just moving through on the surface of life. Never wanting to get to close and risk being abandoned, he refuses to go deeper - until he meets Jade. She makes him want love, connection, intimacy and forever, even if that scares the hell out of him. Jade is terrified of life after being brutally attacked almost two years ago. Paralyzed by her fear, she runs from the memories. What she finds is herself, the person she was always meant to be and Dell. He makes her want to love and live without boundaries or fear, for herself instead of what is expected of her. Dell & Jade’s story was heart-warming and gradual, the build up to their happy-ever-after set to a slow simmer - and I loved every minute of it.

The secondary cast continues to amaze me in this installment of the series and gives the book a well-rounded feel. The interactions between this exceptional cast of characters are funny, witty, realistic and make me want to devour every single word within the series. I will admit, some of the aspects of the story felt very familiar to Animal Magnetism, but did not detract from the overall story in my opinion. Dell & Jade stood strongly on their two feet and words.

Animal Attraction kept me captivated from page one through to the end. Ms. Shalvis continues to amaze me with her phenomenal writing skills and storytelling capabilities. This is definitely a book, and series, that you don’t want to miss!

Dell's and Jade's story. Jade a victim of a violent crime escaped to Sunshine, Idaho. Dell hired her as the receptionist/office manager for his animal clinic despite her giving no references. When they finally succumb to their mutual attraction it is with the knowledge that it is only a brief fling because Dell doesn't do relationships and Jade is leaving Sunshine to go back to her parents and previous life.

Probably a 3.5, because of the animals, but a bit too much on the denial for me.

Got this as a First-Reads win, NOT an ARC. To be brutally honest, there were a couple grammatical & punctuation errors that should've been caught & corrected. OTHER than that, this novel was EXCELLENT!! I fell in love with Dell & Jade. My heart ached for their struggles. I cried when they cried, I laughed a number of times. The interplay between them was excellent. The animals were a sweet addition, but not so saccharine to make my teeth hurt. THANK YOU!!! to whomever picked my name for this copy as a First Reads winner. Looking forward to reading more of this series by Jill Shalvis, and more of her other series, as well as future novels.

Great character development and dialog. Shalvis is funny and entertaining, and writes some hot stuff. A favorite author of mine. Looking forward to the 3rd book in the series.

I love this author, this series is really fun.

Loved it! Loved Dell! I was glued to this book from start to finish. There were things I didn't like, but the ones I liked far outweighed them. I felt for Jade, so much, every single emotion from fear to love and care. Loved Beans too and really everything about the story and how Jade and Dell came to be. This book's emotions were to me more powerful than the ones in book 1 and I'm intensely looking forward reading Adam's story.

Once again, Shalvis does a perfect job of balancing the light comedy of a veterinary practice with the heroine's recovery from a traumatic event. Terrific character arc.

As the second book to the series Animal Jill does not disappoint. I absolutely love her style of writing. She never fails to get better and better when it comes to her books.

This series is right up my alley because I love animals and anything to do with them, so a series of alpha males who love animals too? Yes please.

Dell has been my favorite character from the start of the series so I was very excited about getting to read his story in book two. He and Jade have one of those long time pinning romances, which I love. Love from afar, building over time, till it finally explodes into something amazing.

Highly recommend this book as well as all of Shalvis' other ones.

I love Jill Shalvis but this wasn't a fave of mine. I did enjoy it and loved the characters but it just fell short for me somehow. Maybe it's my mood.

Sexy romance between the vet and his receptionist. Both have trouble in their past and resist relationships. Not too much angst just avoiding the inevitable. I just didn't FEEL like Dell was that invested, even though he would occasionally express his feeling, there wasn't much emotion expressed for him and that felt a little empty.
I do think this should be read as a series, in order. There was a lot of back story in the first book.
