This book is beautiful and emotional and I cried several times reading it. The writing is lovely and there are many amazing quotes and language. The way that brotherhood is written between Will and Jem, as well as Tessa’s love for both of them is just incredibly well done. This book kind of left me speechless. It’s that good. Very worth the read.
You will be tempted to look things up (I know I certainly was) to get a clearer sense of the timeline but I would refrain until you’ve read all the Shadowhunter books you wish to, for fear of being spoiled.
I really appreciated the longer peaceful resolution in this book. I feel like often, once the action concludes, the book does shortly thereafter but we got a good 15% of the book that provided resolution for these amazing characters as well as teasers for other opportunities.

I admit that I am a hardcore fan of Cassandra Clare. I know that there is a stigma about her and how she is a bully and plagiarizes but, honestly, I don't like authors based off of their personal lives or their politics... I base it off of how much I enjoy their stories and Cassandra Clare fully entertains me. I first fell in love with The Mortal Instruments and I thought nothing could top the characters and world she had created in that series... And then The Infernal Devices happened.
I'm convinced that 99% of the reason why I enjoy TID more than TMI is because it takes place at the turn of the 20th century and, if I could choose a time period to live in/visit... that would be it.
I found the first two books in the series so quick and painless to get through but, for some reason, Clockwork Princess took months for me to trudge through. It might have been the array of characters such as Cecily and the Lightwood brothers and the incorrigible Consul Wayland. It might have been the turbulent plot of happiness, utter despair, death, love making, fake outs, and a cop out ending to have all the shippers be happy.
There was, however, one excellent twist that I did not see coming. So, for that--Bravo Cassandra Clare.
This book was my least favorite in the series but an enjoyable read nonetheless (even if it did take forever). Hopefully it will end at this book and remain a trilogy (just like TMI should have been)...

Okay im not going to talk about the whole book but I will speak my opinions on the epilogue mostly.
This book was better than I expected it to be and that is crazy because I had the highest of hopes for this book.
Some of the parts were spoiled to me however since im dumb and went on the Shadowhunters wiki because I was confused a little on the family tree aspect and what happened in the first book since I read it awhile ago and wanted to get a slight summary and got a whole ton of spoilers....smh
So basically I didn't get the whole experience of the feels when we thought that Jem died because I already knew he lived and became a silent brother from the wiki page (and also since the first Shadowhunter book I read was Lady Midnight which had both Jem and Tessa alive in it even though I did not know how significant they are at the time).
The epilogue was the part that got me, I mean I knew that Will had to die (cuz hes not immortal or a silent bro like Tessa or Jem) but the way she (Cassandra Clare) explained Will's death and all the memories really made me break down crying. And I know that Will had a fulfilling life and all but I hate the idea that he is now dead. I just can't handle that, man.
So now I must re-read Lady Midnight in the Dark Artifices series and try to remember what happened before I read Lord of Shadows and then maybe ill finish the Mortal Instruments (I KNOW I'M READING THEM OUT OF ORDER SHUT UP).
I wish I could rate this book more than 5/5 because it deserves 1000000000001/5 but I guess 5/5 will have to do for now!

Il libro non mi è piaciuto, ma i motivi per cui non mi è piaciuto NON sono questi due;
a) volevo che tessa si mettesse con o will o jem
assolutamente NO, non ho mai visto tessa con nessuno di loro due ed anzi speravo finisse da sola
b) volevo che jem/will morisse
ma proprio no, volevo che entrambi fossero felici e possibilmente senza tessa o che almeno uno dei due la scampasse.

But you are tied to the story as if being dragged behind a carriage, and you cannot let go or turn the course aside.”
Il riassunto di questo libro è delusione.
Tessa, Tessa, sei consapevole di essere una delle più grandi Mary Sue mai scritte vero? Allora sei figlia di una Shadowhunter che non sapeva di esserlo (cioè esistono modi in cui gli stregoni possono fare di TUTTO ma non cercare una bambina scomparsa, tutto questo ha molto molto senso.. davvero!) e un demone superiore, neanche Magnus può vantarsi di tanto insomma. Non hai i segni tipici degli stregoni perché.. sei più una Shadowhunter che un demone! No, non fate quella faccia! Come dite? i demoni e gli shadowhunters danno figli morti? Ma Tessa no! perché la madre non aveva marchi! torna tutto no? dato che la madre NON sapeva di avere sangue di angelo è come se non lo avesse affatto ed al demone fa un baffo. Tutto torna #sarcasm
Quindi capiamo insieme: Tessa è immortale come gli stregoni, ha addirittura l'abilità di cambiare aspetto cosa che gli stregoni generalmente non hanno, però può fare figli, non ha nessun marchio degli stregoni che rovini la sua figaggine ed è in parte demone e in parte angelo. Insomma, solo bonus e nessun malus! Sembra uscita dalla scheda di un personaggio scritto da una bimbaminkia di 11 anni.
Poi ci ricordiamo tutti che Tessa DOVEVA scegliere? ricordiamo il book trailer vero? "tutti dovranno scegliere" si, tutti TRANNE la Mary Sue ovviamente. Come è profondo il tuo amore Tessa, mia cara. Scegli Jem perché lo ami, vero? non perché lui ti ha chiesto per primo di sposarlo ovviamente. Strano che poi quando è morente e Will arriva da te dicendoti che Jem è morto te lo fai direttamente senza il minimo problema con come scusa "ma io ti amo!" (e qui bisognerebbe citare "se ami due persone contemporaneamente non ne ami veramente nessuna delle due") , e quando Jem è un fratello silente beh, ovviamente non lo vuoi più perché si sa che a te interessa solo il bel faccino Tessa cara. Ma quando Will muore e Jem torna "normale" che fai ? "Oh Jem, ti ho sempre amato!" SDENG.
Parliamo di Gabriel: a me è sempre piaciuto più di Gideon, perché Gideon è.. troppo buono! e poi non mi è piaciuto come abbia abbandonato la famiglia nel momento del bisogno giusto per non disonorare te stesso. Ok tuo padre è un bastardo ma tuo fratello? e comunque non potresti provare a ragionarci? devi proprio fuggire?
La visione che Cassie ha di Gabriel è quanto meno schizofrenica. Prima lo critica tramite Gideon perché non uccide abbastanza velocemente suo padre e poi tramite Will e miss-simpatia-Tessa quando è stato veloce ad ucciderlo. Insomma, pronto? solo perché lui ha sottolineato tutto quello che il fandom pensa, cioè che Tessa è una t.. ah no, non quello! che per un morente come Jem sposare Tessa non è una gran furbata. Poi ok che Benedict è un mostro ma scusa tanto Gideon è pur sempre il padre! non tutti sono veloci come te a dimenticarsi di una cosa del genere (tra parentesi, Sophie che dice a Gideon "il dolore di perdere un padre dovresti poterlo provare" ma che azz dici? lui famiglia e baracca l'aveva abbandonata un pezzo fa! di sicuro ora non voglio vederlo piangere per la famiglia!) .
Jem poi, Jem! perché parli sempre in cinese? dopo la dichiarazione di Magnus Cassie c'ha preso gusto ad usare tutte le lingue possibili ed immaginabili? e Tessa spesso lo capisce anche! cioè vi conoscete da quanto e già sai il cinese? sai che la gente ci mette anni e ancora non lo sa bene? ma tu sei troppo avanti Tessa! Infatti sono stata felice quando Jem ha chiesto di Will appena ferito e non di te, tiè insomma.
Tessa comunque a volte è meno stupida di Jem. Jem, perché non diventi vampiro? la storia del sole è ridicola. Insomma, stai morendo dici e ridici -vorrei stare per sempre con te!- e Tessa è pure immortale ma no! se no non sarei più parabatai di Will quindi niente vampiro. O meglio, visto il finale avrei dovuto immaginarmelo che non diventava vampiro perché Cassie aveva in serbo qualcosa di meglio per lui.
E Woosley Scott ?

Come si fa ad amare due persone contemporaneamente? è logico che Tessa uno dei due non lo ama e sta solo giocando con entrambi.Parliamo dell'amicizia Jem/Will? cioè Will, Jem ti dice - non cercare una cura per me- e tu lo fai? ma che razza di amico sei? E anche il fatto che alla fine fosse veramente fratello Zaccaria, lo sapevamo tutti no? è un colpo di scena al livello di RAB su Harry Potter: ovvero tutto il fandom lo aveva indovinato.

I liked this trilogy a lot more than Mortal Instruments.
