(YouTube Series Review up from 16/5/21: https://youtu.be/G_hGrZyz2Hc)

The first book in this series came up on my Kindle Unlimited recommendations - alpha military guy's rescuing damsel's in distress, bit racy, nice and alpha... bit like all the werewolf books I read - and I took the plunge.

I have no idea why I continued to read this book, other than I HAD to get to the end and see what happened, again!

Yes they can be read in isolation - but best read in order for the over arching story - I'm now on book 6 and it's all coming together = it's a sub-standard read, but bloody hell do I want to keep reading! The erotica is... hmmmm... not that refined, but it's pretty hot even if badly written

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I simply cannot get enough of this book series, Behind Closed Doors. Marks of Rebellion is the second book in the series and follows the story of Vanessa and Hunter. As in the first book, we have a rescuer/rescuee love story. I’m loving how this series is coming together, how there is a different puzzle piece added once we learn another woman’s secrets. These rescuers are hot, and their protective nature and general badassery are hotter. Once again, I was a bit thrown by how quickly the H/h got hot and heavy. I think a slow burn would make the book just as good, if not better for ratcheting up the tension. And a silly critique, but I couldn’t get behind the pet name, Flower. Cute sentiment, but a bit cheesy for me. I’m so, so eager to read the next book in the series. Can’t wait!!

Hanging By Mere Threads

Edge of the seat meet my backside because that's where I continue to be! I'm hanging by mere threads. The next several books cannot come soon enough! Seriously! I thought every other week releases for this series was ambitious and unnecessary but now I think Maggie has the right of it.

Ok. So here's the skinny on what got me hooked. Vanessa, aka Flower

I have to say this series gets better and better. I read the Depths of Destruction (Andre and Naomi's POV) and, it was good. We got Naomi's take on the goings-on in her country, Belize, that brought all of them together. Maggie Cole is playing this out perfectly with this series--Marks of Rebellion is Hunter and Vanessa's story. Once again, the same circumstances but from Hunter and Vanessa's POV. With that POV, we get more of the underlying plot of the story revealed.

Vanessa's story is a hard one to read. The brutality inflicted upon her before her meeting Hunter is tough. You empathize with Hunter and Vanessa as they try to help her through the anxiety and panic attacks. What Vanessa continues to go through in their story is necessary for the plot but brutal; the things Hunter does to let her know he's there are tender and poignant.

In this series, each novel removes layers of the central plot that I am sure is building to a major payoff in the last book. So far, the two stories we have gotten have told us just enough about the other characters to create interest. I have enjoyed the first two books in this series, and I look forward to the next. I will warn, the evil men in these books brutalize these women. For some, this might be too much, but it is not gratuitous; it fits the overall storyline of this suspenseful series.

Once again I'm more interested in other characters journeys... overall an okay read but I needed more of an emotional connection between them

Raw, Real and Full of Emotion. The second book in Maggie Cole's Behind Closed Doors series will leave you begging for more. An emotional journey that has you rooting for Hunter and Vanessa and hoping that love really can conquer all. You will laugh, you will cry and most of all you will fall deeper in love with this series.

Marks of Rebellion is the second installment of the Behind Closed Doors series and Maggie Cole delivered once again! Maggie beautifully delivered Vanessa and Hunter’s story. You could feel the raw emotions coming off the pages. I really like that each book in the series focuses on each relationship separately with added twists and action packed scenes. The storyline will leave you at the edge of your seat wanting more. I cannot wait for book three!
