This book is a fast paced insta love story. The book starts off as a suspense but turns into a romance quite quickly. I wish we would've been able to see the characters connection develop a bit more.

This was...something. I knew this had some kink, but the opening to this caught me completely off guard. I appreciate that RW doesn't make it seem like sex/relationships will solve complex trauma, no matter how 'perfect' the other person seems. There is one scene that gave me the ick because of the racial dynamics, but overall this was pretty good. The ending kind o fell off a cliff, but its starting to seem like that's a feature in a lot of her books. I don't know if I'll continue the series or not.

I generally enjoy this writer's work and this was no exception even if it wasn't as big of a hit for me as what I've read in the past. I really liked both MCs and of course the sex scenes were hot, but I did find the end super rushed. It wasn't even the whats and hows of how it ended, I would just've liked to see more of the personal development that brought them there. This way it felt rushed and as such a bit less satisfying than I was hoping.

Haven by Rebekah Weatherspoon is the first book in the "Beards & Bondage" trilogy. Haven is about Shep, a grumpy nature photographer who lives out in the woods in Northern California and Claudia, a fashionista from the city. Claudia takes a trip out the Northern California wilderness for a week long get away, but the trip ends in mayhem and Claudia is tasked with trying to survive the night. With no where else to run, Claudia ends up at Shep's door and she's desperate for help. Shep saves Claudia but now both of them are forever changed. To help with the healing process, Shep and Claudia begin a week long sexual relationship, one that includes BDSM session after session. Claudia learns how to be the perfect submissive, and Shep dominates her wonderfully.

This started off really strong with a thriller element and even though
the thriller element dies down towards the middle of the book
, the book still kept my attention for it's duration. I do think the characters could have had a little more development, but this is an erotica so we got more spicy scenes than character development.

I'm unsure of how to rate the spicy scenes, they were good but I didn't love them. I appreciated that they used a condom in every scene, because the two had just met. The scenes didn't move me in a way that I wanted them to. Keep in mind that all the scenes are BDSM related in some way. I'm giving it three chilies 🌶️🌶️🌶️ out of five chilies

Overall this erotica was okay, I wish there was a better balance between the romance and spicy scenes. I'm giving this 3.5 out of 5 stars.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 - 3.5/5 Stars
