I'm really glad I'm re-reading the series before continuing with book 4.
I hated this book when I first read it and while I still think it's way too long - Janel's and Qown's stories does not need to be dragged out for so long - I have a deeper appreciation for what this book does in the larger scheme of things.

just as confusing as the first but more queer!! so i loved it more obviously. it’s super fun, contains so many complex elements that somehow still makes for an engaging story with a compelling cast of characters. i had a wonderful time buddy reading this and i’m so excited to pick up the next one :)

My gods that ending! REALLY QOWN!!!? I will admit it lost a star because I had gotten really invested in Khirin's story but Janel started to grow on me. I hate Relos Var so much it. He keeps saying he's trying to to save everything but he's over here destroying cities and whole towns. The disconnect is making my head hurt. I love Dorna and Ninavis. I'll be jumping into book 3 in June but I hope the gimmick from the first 2 books is done.
