Holy cow this book is so freaking good. I think this is my fave of the chronicles so far.
Awesome to know Visser One's background! It's fascinating and disturbing at the same time.
I found this particularly poignant:
Human to Yeerk: "Your race is sick! Sick and twisted and evil!"
Yeerk to human: "We are parasite, Mr. Gervais. You're a predator. Go ask a cow or a pig what they think of humans."

This was a strong one. I'm always fascinated by the stories where we look at the humans from alien's point of view. And Visser one is an interesting character. More nuances of her character are shown here. (Why is Visser three on the cover?) I loved the moment when Edriss first explored the human brain.
It was interesting that both Vissers one and three were fascinated by the species they infested. I wonder if Visser three got in some way "corrupted" by Alloran, like Visser one was by Allison (who was an amazing character). And we got another Yeerek who doesn't agree with the ways of the empire. I wonder if we'll get an full out Yeerek rebellion at some point. Espercially now that we've seen how harsh their laws are.

Visser One, the highest ranking Yeerk in the galaxy short of the Council of 13, is being held under accusations of treason by Visser Three. Visser One just so happens to be the first Yeerk to visit Earth and Control a human. They also happen to inhabit Marco's mother.
The story here is an interesting diversion from the sub-standard ghost-written books, but not as interesting as previous 'Chronicles'. The point of the story appears to be making Visser One a more shaded villain instead of the cartoon shenanigans of Visser Three. Also the question is AGAIN asked of where Marco's loyalties will ultimately go. I think we all know the answer by now.
I feel a lot more could have been written from the perspective of Visser One's Yeerk companion in the early years of the Earth invasion - their viewpoint would have offered something fresh. Ah well.

top tier animorphs book. in this one our protagonist is the enemy no. 1, and we get to learn more about her, and how the yeerk invasion of earth really started. i enjoy how applegate asserts that it's really confusing for aliens to try and understand human culture, and how once they do they realise that humans are infinitely complex, and also ultimately become seduced by the human lifestyle. i also enjoy how complex the power dynamics are. once again it really shows how the conflict is not just good vs evil. it was also really nice to get to actually meet eva a bit, and to see marco through her eyes. their resolve to fight the yeerks is really inspiring.
