I'm interested in Marco's mother, but this is just dull. It's not at all like the other chronicles. We don't go as in depth into Visser One's history so that we can squeeze in half a book that takes place during the modern day. It's just not at all satisfying.

A really good look into what Visser One is like, and how she (?) got to the position she is currently in. We don't get to hear much from Eva, for obvious reasons, but we do see Marco's cold and calculating nature from the opposing end. This is the first time we really get to see Marco in a serious light from a POV that isn't his own, and I really enjoyed it.

It was really good. I first thought it would be solely about Visser Three. But this has been quite a good book. I really enjoyed reading it, especially the 3rd and 4th quarters. I have to say, though, I really really disliked the Council's verdict.

I believe I'll see more of this in the next book. Anyway, we'll see what happens to Visser One.

Although this book gives the impression (by its cover) to be about Visser Three and ends up being narrated from the perspective of Visser One it's a dutiful nice piece of work both as a chronicle and as to follow the main plot. We follow the early years of Visser One since its arrival to Earth until he becomes the Yeerk in Marco's mom. I feel impressed by the subtleties and nuances to make everything fit into the general story.

Touching love letter to the human experience. Makes you realise how beautiful just being alive is

I know it doesn’t make any sense. I know it’s pure wish fulfillment. But Marco’s lackadaisical response to Visser One’s call, and then the stunning display of brute force the Animorphs show the Council of 13? Amazing. The entire last, I don’t know, third of the book is just twist of the knife after twist of the knife. Good stuff.

Pretty good side-book. It takes place entirely from Visser One's perspective, as she is tried for treason. The Animorphs put in a token appearance, but the bulk of the plot is about Visser One's backstory, being the first Yeerk to discover humanity. It also goes into the formation of The Sharing. I liked the elaboration on Yeerk culture. A pretty good side-book.
