Quite compelling and hard to put down, but not as good as I'd hoped from the extremely promising first half. The characters are interesting (I especially adore Victor), the game sounds fabulous and is extremely sinister, but with anything that sinister, I'd much prefer a completely fantastic motivation and creator, whereas it actually turns out to be pretty grubby and human.
I'm back in the reading game mama!! (4.5/5 stars)
This is the second time I have read this book ngl, but I think it was about time I did reread it. First time I laid my hands on this book was about five years ago for an assignment at school, and I fell absolutely in love with every aspect of this book. This book really caters to my massive nerd heart, and gives me the little bit of angst that I adore in fiction because it reminds me of the good old Twilight days.
Erebos was also the book that got me into reading in english instead of norwegian!
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that loved [b:Ready Player One|9969571|Ready Player One (Ready Player One, #1)|Ernest Cline|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1500930947l/9969571._SY75_.jpg|14863741] as there are so many similarities between the two books - aka both plots includes video games that are super immersive with a plot that include that the video game is connected somewhat to the real world. Also if you're a World of Warcraft fan you'd love both of these books.
I had a few issues with the main character every now and again, but all in all I found that I truly enjoyed getting to know Nick Dunmore through his character development. However I found myself enjoying other characters like Emily more than Nick, but he is a strong number two.
The plot was refreshing, even though I remembered some of the major reveales. I had forgotten some of the things that happened in the book and they surprised me in a positive way.
I'm so happy this was my first read for 2020, and I'm so excited to read a lot this year!
