I bought this early on in pandemic one of many offerings on discount. Having struggled with Rosewater by same author this languished on the bottom of my eTBR till now.
I really enjoyed this. Startling, creepy with lots left to think upon.
I have follow up story ready to go straight away not something that I usually do.

Creative story and well crafted. This one messes with your head a bit. I could see the end twist coming but the concept and the story still made it a solid read.
Read this for the PopSugar Reading Challenge 2024 - "a horror book by a BIPOC author".
I'm not usually a fan of horror so wanted to get this prompt done early for the reading challenge. It was interesting.

the thing is this was pretty interesting, and fun, but i don't get it.
like i feel like there's Supposed To Be a Message and I DON'T GET IT!!!!!!!
it's literally like 120 pgs tho so like, go for it, it's pretty cool as an idea but any attempts at metaphor really don't land

this was wild and amazing in the best ways I think! obsessed with short horror novels
I wasn't expecting to enjoy this but apparently I did ?
I really enjoyed this one. Good pacing, good character development. Thompson does a good job at hinting at internal struggles and dilemmas without beating them to death.
