This easily could be a series but I appreciate it being as short as it was, there are definitely a lot of questions I want answers for. This was very well written.
So cool. Wholly unique and a total blast to read. “With each failure, each insult, each wound to the psyche, we are created anew. This new self is who we must battle each day or face extinction of the spirit”.
I wasn't really sure what to expect from this. I mean, I'd heard it was good, but you never know, right? But wow. So amazing. So, so amazing. Fantastic character development, especially given the length. Good pacing. Unexpected plotting in some ways but follows genre conventions in other ways. Worldbuilding isn't huge, but it's enough. I'd recommend this for people who like their horror tinged with dystopian sci-fi.
It looks like there's going to be a sequel -- while this is great as a standalone, I am eager to get my grabby hands on the next book!

I heard about this book for what felt like years! Then I realized it was a novella that I already had on my kindle, and I remembered i'm trying to be better about reading all of the book that I own before checking anything more out of the library.
Can I just say this was incredibly original! Super duper weird, never read anything like it before and very happy I picked it up.
Was it all that great? Not entirely sure- but since I already owned it and it was short i'd definitely recommend checking it out just for a change of pace. Also going in an putting the next book on hold right now.

This novella has nearly everything I love in fiction. It's bizarre, short, bloody, and intelligent. And the concept is both strange and inventive. Our protagonist is strong and powerful and sexual, and unashamedly so. She doesn't wither, does not plead. There is no fluff here, no wasted page, and I loved it. I typically hate series and will go out of my way to avoid novels I know are part of series, but I think I'm going to pick up the sequel.

this was wild and amazing in the best ways I think! obsessed with short horror novels
