I had so much fun reading this book! The four Princes Charming have now been given names and personalities that are memorable and amusing. And they even manage to bumble through adventures on their way to saving the Kingdom. I really enjoyed the ride. Super fun!

Fun line, "Better to be loved for something lame than to be hated for no good reason." p. 89

A retelling of the Prince Charmings from Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty. The princes now have personalities, lives beyond the tales of bards, and names. I enjoyed getting to know Frederic, Gustav, Liam, and Duncan, as well as their princesses.

Would be fun to read to younger kids.

It's been a while since I read Hero's Guide, but I remember that it was a cleverly inventive and wildly funny book that deftly balanced satire, heart, and fantasy. It's such an enjoyable collection, subversion, and utilization of fairy tales with a rousing plot and delightful characters.

"Those other princes were his first real friends. He’d imagined the four of them as old men, laughing together about their past escapades. It was one of the happiest daydreams he’d had in years."

:D

I believe the term is "rollicking." It went on too long, and the dialog was all modern preteen ("Aww...sounds like someone's having a pity party and didn't invite the rest of us!") but I think it will appeal to the lovers of Shrek and other stories of that ilk.
