I am stepping my feet into the reverse harem world and boy this book really defined it for me! It was very steamy and very hot. I will be curious to see how the series progresses.

Edit - from 3 to 2⭐️ as no longer on KU and as I didn’t read the prequel ( which I was going to but can no longer) iam still so lost to what is going on with this story.
Just to clarify for future readers YOU need to read the prequel the “official” book 1 is a continuation and as I didn’t know this I read Her vicious beasts blind and I finished it’s still very much confused.
Really wish the books where titled better, I read HVB on my kindle I don’t do any research I just saw book 1 and thought great! A new series but ended up baffled and after some digger saw a lot of similar reviews saying prequel had to be read.
Even on goodreads the prequel isn’t attached to this series it’s still just showing HVB as book 1 , hopefully someone in the team can sort this out so not to confuse future readers.

The books was fine to me. It wasn't the best but I enjoyed it. What bothered me the most was the grammatical errors and at one point it seemed the name Charlotte was mentioned when I'm guessing it was supposed to be Sarah. Also, if you mention a they/them character but still randomly say she/her it kinda throws you off. I also felt some of the character connections were well established to justify certain relationships, much like Minnie, Sabrina and Raquel. If we, the reader, is supposed to believe they are friends I feel like there needed to be more one on one or more background for the characters for us to understand.
Another part that bothered me was the predictability with the story. Most of what happened I expected but I still finished the book and I still want to read the next one. Hopefully it comes out soon 'cause I don't want to forget what happens.
P.S. I wished I didn't have to read the pre sequel to this book just to understand what happened before. There are a lot of hints and throw backs mentioned to what happened but I don't want to have to read something else just to understand book one of a series. But that's just me.

"There is nowhere on this wild earth you can hide from me."
Her Feral Beasts is the first novel in a NA Urban Fantasy Why Choose Romance series, Her Vicious Beasts following Aurelia as she is forced to attend Animus Academy, a place for shifters that misbehave. She has spent her life hiding her self, her father, her crimes, and from the ones who crave her the most, her five mates. Yet time has caught up she must play a careful game of cat and mouse with the men who crave her...and want to destroy her. After all, in Animus Academy if you're not a predator, you're prey.
The best way to describe this book is if Zodiac Academy and The Bonds That Tie series. Aurelia is a strong willed FMC who a bunch of secrets. She has been dealt a bad hand for the last number of years but I felt through this book she was able to thrive more alongside new friends. I am still a little confused why she has to reject her mates (something to do with her dad) but I found the rivralry with them to be delicious and steamy.
Aurelia has five mates but mainly only interact with three in this book - Savage, Scythe, and Xander. Savage is the feral character with wolf genes and, boy, does he rep his name. I enjoyed the banter between him and Aurelia and the feralness of their games. Scythe has shark genes as definitely is more aloof but one he becomes focused...an absolute delight. Xander is a dragon and I feel like there is still a lot more to unfold with him. Overall I felt this book was focused on Savage predominately with Aurelia and the next book will shine a light on the other. This book is multi POV so getting their perspective is fascinating.
This book definitely has spice - I would place it at 3.5 spicy peppers out of 5 spicy peppers. There is plenty of tension and foreplay but the spice hits towards the latter half of the book. It truly was animalistic and I felt befitting of the characters and their games of war. The romance is definitely not fully in bloom yet as there is a lot to still unpack and barriers in place but I cannot wait to see them all fall completely and utterly because they are oh so close.
The story and world have a lot of promise. I enjoy the idea of the school and the adorable companion pets. I do hope we get a bit more of context and the series continue to better understand the why of things as I don't fully have that. The story isn't too complex and I think it has to do with it is setting up for a larger world. I found that I was mainly just reading for the vibes and waiting for the mates to fall into each other because the story wasn't very strong. The ending has a brilliant cliffhanger that has me excited to continue.
Overall, I love the vibes and characters and will definitely continue! My hope is the story and world get a bit more definition as it continues.
