A delightful surprise! A rich and interesting world that is not overly explained. And it's always refreshing to read about a cast of mature women.

The politics are about as subtle as a brick to the face. It was a bit weird to hear 30-something Black lesbians talking "Intro to Feminism" with their Irish friend. But hey, some audiences need that. 🤷

I hope the next book spends some more time breaking down the binary between witches and warlocks, cause it seems quite silly to me.

The vibes reminded me a lot of "The City We Became."

I thought I'd really enjoy this book, but it was just okay. The concept was interesting, but the story and characters felt flat. However, I appreciated how it wove in contemporary social themes throughout the narrative. I don't think I'll continue the series.

Just couldn't get into it. Really wanted to like it. It picked up at the end, but the beginning to middle were really dragging.

I truly loved the incorporation of current social issues into the overall premise of this book.  Inclusion is so important.

I struggled to get invested in the characters. I loved the audiobook narrator, but I found my mind wondering a lot during this listen.

3.5 ⭐️ A bit more adult than I was used to in fantasy, reading about mature women. Sometimes felt a bit too woke, but it was really well done and I understand that representation is really important. The characters were so unique and their motivations great. Some scenes were really brutal and I really want to check out book 2.
