Did I read this just to get the #50BookPledge badge? Maybe. Do I regret it? Nah. It was mushy and cliche, yes, but also funny, and heartwarming, and cute, and kind of a nice break from reading much denser stuff. I tend to look down on Chick Lit as popcorn literature, but it's nice to follow someone else through heartbreak and redemption and have them find love. Isn't that nice? It's nice.
Not a bad book. It was fun to read but there’s more books I would recommend and this isn’t my fav genre. Not bad though
3.5. The writing wasn't the absolute greatest, but I really did enjoy the story. The hero was a bit weak and quick to temper in my opinion, but I overlooked that. I'd recommend it for a fun, Brit chick-lit read.
The single girls to-do list
Well, it certainly made me laugh, and at one point, I was reasonably convinced that I should dye my hair red to see if it could take me from doormat to feisty in 3 hours. I've gone with 2 stars because now that I'm finished it, I don't even remember what happened, but I had a decent time while reading.
Really, I think the book suffered from its timeline. The book starts with her boyfriend asking for a break and then we get told about the month afterwards. Then they break up for good, and the rest of the book happens in less than 2 weeks. Now, the whole single to-do list happening in that time I'd buy, but the romance I would not.
I guess who the final love interest was very quickly, but the transition from the way they are at the start to them getting together just felt rushed. Girl was sobbing over her ex one minute and can't stop thinking about this guy a few days later. That's not to say it doesn't happen and work out in real life, but it didn't feel like a very well developed relationship. My copy did have a short story (the bride to be's to-do list) in the back, and even this was more about her friendships than their relationship.
The book does contain cameos of characters from the authors' I heart series and one of the other standalones. I don't know if it's just me, but I'm starting to feel like I'm going crazy constantly checking author bibliographies to see if books connect together. These ones at least seem to be more Easter eggs than direct links.

This book had the recipe of everything I look for in a contemporary romance!
This hilarious read follows the life of Rachel, whose boyfriend of 5 years unceremoniously dumps her! Her friends rally around her and help her get through heartbreak in the most adventurous ways! I absolutely adored their friendship and banter.
Predictable? Yes, as such books always are. But definitely still worth a go.
I highly recommend listening to the audiobook for this. Makes it more interesting and hilarious!

Rachel Summer's makes To-Do lists persistently. When her long-term boyfriend dumps her, she decides to make a list of things to do as a new singleton.
Along with her friends Matthew and Emelie she finds herself with a compulsive need to do them all in the 2 weeks before her father's 4th wedding.
In theory, I like the idea of this book. What better way to forget about the man who dumped you than by looking to what you can do without him. In practice, most of what they do initially is get drunk, throw up and make questionable life decisions.
Rachel, who is a make up artist, within the first few pages wants to write 'slag' on a model's butt because she's promiscuous, doesn't immediately endear herself. She backs this up by being flummoxed that someone wealthy would want to marry a beautiful model who she deems 'dumb' but not her apparently stellar self, and describing someone's make up as 'tranny like'.
So, honestly, I didn't think a whole lot of her, even though the model in question doesn't seem like the nicest person, promiscuity is hardly the thing to call her out on. Also her inner monologue humour is OTT in the way that following Friends from the POV of Chandler would eventually become tiresome from line after line of bad 'jokes'.
Her friends, also, seem worryingly one dimensional and both similar to each other to the point if they weren't one male and one female they would seem almost interchangeable.
A MONTH maybe of being single and she's engaged in a relationship with a man who had been a dick to her for 6 years and suddenly after maybe 4 conversations she thinks is the love of her life? Yeah...no. Maybe introducing him again as a potential I could take, but that?

Spoiler
I also had issue with the conclusion of a book about how to get over a man resulting in Rachel finding herself in the arms of another man with all this happiness she's achieved by herself.A MONTH maybe of being single and she's engaged in a relationship with a man who had been a dick to her for 6 years and suddenly after maybe 4 conversations she thinks is the love of her life?
