This book was fine, but there were some things that were unclear, and it wasn’t what I thought it would be.

This is a book about abuse and healing, with a little bit of romance, that to me, didn’t really count. Sure, Jessie and Will end up together, but they don’t date throughout this book. Also, it felt like they both cheated on each other (at least emotionally) and then said that it didn’t count
(with Lindsey and Noah)

I liked Jessie and how clearly it was shown that she was struggling and how she got better.

I liked Will and how helpful he was, but there were moments when he annoyed me. For example, he saw that Jessie was right about the general, but then he would continue to cling to his own view of the general and he would keep thinking that Jessie was disgusting.

I didn’t like how Jessie and Will’s relationship was described throughout most of the book, and it made it hard to see their relationship in a different light when things started to change.

There weren’t many side characters. The general was obviously rubbish, but I didn’t like Lindsey either because she blamed Jessie for everything without thinking for herself. Then her reaction when she accepts the truth that was in front of her this whole time seemed fake.

This book was fine, but I’m not going to continue with this series as I don’t care about Lindsey, and I’m not too interested in reading other books by this author.

This book was such a roller coaster ride, I loved it! Just when I thought I knew how the story would end, it shifted to something new. Great reading experience.

i kind of hate read this book since i thought it would get better.

i loved both the mc’s but they needed a lot more time spent together on the page. i had a really difficult time believing that these two characters were truly meant to be together rather than trauma bonding.

additionally, the author used way too many exclamation points for no reason.

Jessie & Will

This book broke my heart and mended it back together.
I didn't realize how much this book would take from me. I say this because for me it was very emotional.
Jessie who didn't fit in anywhere because her father is a grade A d - o - u - c - h - e. Not only hurt her but would let his friends have their way with her. So he does the unthinkable and the events that follow or so sad and horrific you can't even imagine.
So to rectify his mistake he hires Will to bring Jessie home. Only she really not there, she is but she isn't, her mind is really messed up and who's wouldn't be let us be real.
Will kind of becomes her white knight in dark clothing kind of thing. He falls for her and doesn't know how to deal with that. He does bring her sister back into her life and gets Jessie the help she needs.

I don't want to give too much away because everyone should read this book it's amazingly well written and brings out all the feels.

Just that not everything is black and white sometimes we need to see the grey to really understand.

🎧 Audio Review 🎧

This is a new to me author and the series was recommended by a friend who knew I was looking for something different. And this was different from my normal book for sure! I really enjoyed this book even though I expected it to be a little more suspenseful after the first couple chapters. I listened straight through because it was a SLOW BURN and I had to see what happened! The characters were realistic, he was a fixer and a good guy which I love and she was damaged. They were perfect but they didn't always know it. I loved all the things going on and that it takes place over a couple of years! I can't wait to move on to the next book in the series!

The narration was great!!!!

I really liked this story. It's definitely not for the feint of heart. The topic is hard but there is a happy ending and it is believable. It takes a lot of time for healing. I really loved the characters and I felt for them and with them. They were engaging and had me from the beginning. I couldn't put the book down. I had to figure out what was going to happen.

When I initially started this book and was learning about Jessie I thought what a spoiled brat. She has been given every opportunity in the world and just ran wild, but as you continue reading and learn her story and the reasons behind her actions, you learn she is a broken child who did not deserve anything that happened to her. Her acting out was the only way she knew how to cope with the things she was dealing with. I cried many tears while reading this book. I was very glad Jessie got her happy ever after, even when there were many times throughout the book I did not think she would end up with her soldier. The author did a great job telling a very emotional story and I can not wait to read the next book in this series.
