This was fantastic! I enjoy reading children’s books that carry important messages, and Greta and the Giants hit a sweet spot with me. As someone who focuses a lot on environmentalism, I thought this short book did a great job at presenting both Greta’s story and the importance of activism. Through the giants story analogy, kids can understand why fighting climate change is such an important issue.

The illustrations are also fantastic. This is definitely a book one should buy for their children along with Malala’s Magic Pencil which I am yet to read. I also really appreciated how at the end of the book there are objective tips one can follow to reduce their impact. Overall an important enjoyable book I recommend.

Final Score: 75/100

Much has been said about Greta and climate change, and this is undoubtedly a book that makes known to children in a light and simplified way what has been going on.
Highly recommend!

I cried. This book is beautiful. Buy this book for kids. Tell them that you'll work to make the world a healthy and beautiful place for them and their kids.

Greta and the Giants is about Greta Thunberg. It is modified into a children's story - humans contributing to pollution and environmental damage are made into giants who threaten the woodland creatures' homes and way of life. At first, they are unaware of the problems they are causing, but the animals and a little girl from the woods begin to stand up and make their voices heard. With the fires, natural disasters, and environmental issues our world is facing due to our inaction toward climate change, it is more important now than it has ever been to teach our children how to be responsible for their planet.

There is a section at the back that explains what Greta is doing and how children can help her in real life! My favorite part of this book is that it is printed on recycled paper and that they donate 3% of the price to 350.org, an organization focused on sustainability and climate change. The creator is really practicing what they preach!

Please note, I received a free ARC in exchange for a review. The review contains my honest, uninfluenced opinion and I was not compensated in any way for a positive review.

I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

"No one is too small to make a difference."
This is an inspiring picture book with great illustrations and a great message for everyone. It uses allegory to make the important topic of Climate change accessible to young children and it does it very well.

A section at the back explains that, in reality, the fight against the “giants” isn’t over and explains how you can help Greta in her fight.

Highly recommend it !

This is a cute children’s picture book based on the story of Greta Thunberg and her mobilization of other youth to create a call to action to acknowledge and act on the climate change crisis. I liked the illustrations. My only issue is that sometimes the text of the book didn’t stand out well from the drawings.

Illustrations : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The message however ,⭐⭐
was heavy handed and not the best. Though I agree talking is a start , it's definitely not how things are resolved.
I found the content to be dumbed down and "child friendly" , but I think children are more intelligent than that.
The author's note does mention that things IRL aren't that easy.

But idk..

This book smells of money but does it matter if it raises awareness?
The state of our world and our fault in it is told in the simplest of ways to the youngest of readers. I am not sure whether everything is as black-and-white as it's depicted here I think that is not the point. The point is to raise awareness and make people think about the subject. If they are thinking about it then all the gray areas can be sorted out.

Most of the story was given to reader by short sentences and big pictures and then it ends with two full pages of text. That's the most insane infodump I've encountered and as I understand that informations importance it seems to be forgetting the target audience. If your audience can only grasp short sentences and pictures those last to pages obviously aren't for them.

It's a nice book and the pictures are gorgeous.

Super cute art and a nice introduction to collective action. That said, reducing climate change down to simply misinformed giants feels… reductive? But I can’t imagine a better way to introduce it to young people. So it doesn’t sit the best with me but I still think it’s a nice read!
