The amount that the characters argue slows the plot down. Only way I got through the slow part was to play a videogame and let the audiobook play. Wish there was more Cimarene and Mendenbar POV.

I will continue giving this series 4 stars every time I read it. Yes, there could be more excitement or XYZ but these books hold SUCH a lovely space in my heart. And while I hate the cliffhanger/obvious TBD of the third installment of the series, I’m always excited to see it all flow together, sixteen years, fourteen months and two years apart.
