I didn't notice this book was published in 2003 and I think it shows - I can't imagine a books like this being published today with 0 women creators in it and (as far as I can tell) no people of colour outside of the Japanese. Each chapter addresses a myth or criticism of comics ex: that it's all superheros, that it prevents the youths from learning to read, that all illustrators are foiled 'real artists'.
What I really would have liked is large full colour illustrations from the various comics - but since I picked it up specifically because it was small I can't complain too much (except that one strip from Nemo that I couldn't even read the dialogue for and gave me a headache trying)
