While I’ve seen a lot of people disappointed with this book, I for one LOVED IT. Yes, the beginning had me a little lost with all the new characters and info dumps but I was hooked throughout the entire book and could barely put it down. I loved getting to expand past the regular settings we’ve seen so far and the new places were very interesting to see. We got to know some of our side characters more as well which was so fun and made me love them even more. As always, Violet and Xaden were amazing and I felt like their relationship was finally past the cycle they were in during IF. There so many plot twists and shocking moments that had me in a chokehold and I don’t think I’ll ever get over that ending. The wait for book 4 is gonna be a long one.

rebecca yarros continues to make me question my intelligence. i don’t feel like these books should be as complicated as they are but alas i’ve finished another one of her books and am again left with so many questions.

while this book was much more entertaining than the last one, i am left disappointed as i got annoyed with all the characters again and want the next book in only the dragons pov (please no more chapters in the pov of imogen and rhiannon especially when yarros has given us no reason to be invested in those characters). i hate that i started to like xaden only for him to do the same thing in the last five pages of this book that pissed me off in the last five pages of the last book.
