Honestly tough to get through. Both MCs are pretty unlikeable which makes their questionable actions even harder to stomach.

Oh my god. I absolutely adored this once again. I didn’t think I would because of some of the tropes in it (cheating) but I absolutely adored it!! There were some parts that were fairly slow and I wasn’t fully engaged in it so I weren’t originally going to give it five stars but the end of it was so worth it. The bonus epilogue was stunningly beautiful. Banner is a powerhouse I wouldn’t dare mess with her. And Jared? Perfectly grumpy and arrogant!

Block Shot wasn't my favorite Kennedy Ryan book to be honest, but I still really enjoyed the overall plot and characters.

I found Banner to be spineless and weak at various points of the story. It was difficult for me to understand—and subsequently empathize with—someone who was so incredibly intelligent choosing to let Jared steamroll her, push aside her relationship (I honestly don't mind a cheating trope—sue me—but sister, fight back!). I didn't like that she was written to be fat but constantly working to shed weight and feeling subconscious about her desirability to ~someone like Jared~ that clashed with the strong, intelligent person she was in every other part of her life. This was published in 2018, but even then I feel like Weight Watchers was out-of-season and everyone switched to tummy tea by then? Anyway. I don't like seeing diet culture or a character with a clear eating disorder—but not calling it that—in romance novels.

Jared was a pretty generic I-Am-Rich-White-Man-So-I-Refuse-To-Be-Nice BUT there was an asterisk that said *but I'm nice to YOU* when it came to Banner, which I liked. It was odd to like him more than I liked Banner, but that's where I arrived by the end.

I adored Zo and I'm glad he turned out okay! I also loved seeing Iris, August, and Sarai so much.
