It has been a while since I picked up a YA mystery novel, and this one certainly delivers plenty of high-school drama. That said, I found the overall experience somewhat average and was expecting a bit more in terms of depth and impact.

What I did enjoy was the fast-paced plot and how easy it was to follow. It kept me turning the pages, and I must admit, I did not see that ending coming. Well played.

As for the characters, they were decent, but I struggled to connect with any of them. Perhaps it was because many came across as rather unlikeable, which made it difficult to become emotionally invested.

Still, it was an enjoyable and quick read, even if it did not leave a lasting impression.

Audiobook Review
3 ☆
To Brooke, image is everything. She works hard to maintain perfect grades, perfect looks, a perfect life—especially after "the incident" that threatened it all. Getting into her dream university puts her that much closer to a fresh start. An old truck starts aggressively tailing Brooke and her best friend on the isolated road toward home. Someone thinks they know the truth about "the incident," and they won't stop until it's all out in the open.

The cover art is so eye catching. Which is why I picked this book! This is a YA murder mystery and I enjoy a good murder mystery but this book was a little too predictable for me. And I must say all the characters were unlikeable, highly unlikeable ... just whiny rich kids, with whiny rich kids issues. *roll eyes* I am hoping the author did this on purpose, because she did a good job at that. This was my first book by this author.

The audiobook was great, the narrator did a great job telling the story and being Brooke. She truly made me dislike Brooke and her entire so called friends. I listened to this story at 2.5x speed.

Thank you, Netgellay, and RB Media for the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This was okay - definitely not up to the same level as Megan Lally’s first release.
I know that this is a YA thriller but woah, these characters were young! There was some super catty moment and a bit of teenage drama but it was all just a smidge bit too obvious for me.
It was still a fun time but I’d definitely recommend her other work over this one.
