This was a very different and engaging fantasy novel, I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

The content was way darker than I realized. Especially for audio, it was too much for me to handle.

I loved almost everything in this book. The world V.E. Schwab created immediately captivated me; I could not put the book down. I love Kell and I couldn't help but feel for him; It's obvious how much he loves Rhy, but he's clearly seen as a possession of the crown... I just couldn't help but feel angry FOR him.

This all being said, I couldn't give the book 5 starts because I could not come to terms with Delilah. I just think she's the worst. Lol. I spent 80% of the book wanting to shake her. I know that growing up in Grey London and obviously having had to fight to stay alive would make her distrustful and rough around the edges; I also know that as her character develops she will most likely evolve but for now... I can't deal with how selfish she is. I really wanted to like the strong female lead in this book but so far... It's been hard.

Is this just me? Does everyone else love her? Am I crazy?!

I also have to assume we'll find out she'd an Antari, based on the glass eye and Master Tieren's comment about her having magic. I hate it when I see things coming, so hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

Everything about this book was perfect. The characters, the plot, the magic, the worlds. ALL OF IT. One of my favorite books of 2016, and ever. I can't wait to get the next book.
