Steampunk, graphic novel Jack and the Beanstalk, with Rapunzel as a sidekick. This is a fantastic follow up to Rapunzel's Revenge.

Kind of a steampunk Justice League plot and setting. Jack grows up in a rough city which becomes overrun by a baddie called Blunderboar and his minions who happen to be giants. Jack, his friends Rapunzel and Pru, and a newspaper heir who won't give in decide to take on Blunderboar to rescue Jack's mother who has been enslaved since Jack climbed a magic beanstalk and stole Blunderboar's goose (who happens to lay golden eggs). Some challenging vocabulary and unexpected elements of the fantasy world can help expand the breadth of super-hero-comic-loving readers. Best for ages 8-12.

I love a good graphic novel in between reads for fun.
this was as good as [b:Rapunzel's Revenge|2626492|Rapunzel's Revenge (Rapunzel's Revenge, #1)|Shannon Hale|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1421704442s/2626492.jpg|2651193] and gave some background into Jack's character.
Plenty of action, sweet, corny and amusing.

Calamity Jack was just as fun as Rapunzel's Revenge. It was interesting to read about Jack's backstory and how he came to be with his magic beans. In this second book, you can see his friendship with Rapunzel grow into something more (I still love how he calls her "Punzie" even though she doesn't like it at first) and you get introduced two a few new characters as well. There are still giants to be dealt with and bad guys to get away from, but the fun is still there. You can see how Jack fights with his "I'm a bad guy" nature to try to be someone Rapunzel will like and his mother will be proud of. By the end of the book, you just want to hug him. I also thought it was awesome that the authors made him Native American. This book is definitely one I'll be adding to my shelf to be read again.
