It was fine. I enjoyed it, though I had to push myself to finish the last 40% of the book. The series is cool, but I’m glad the rest of the books aren’t out, because it gives me a reason to take a break from them. I really want to see how the relationship blooms in the other hunted couples, but I’m so tired of the instant love trope, most of the time it’s miscommunication that causes most of the plot.
Though I can’t really expect a lot from a fun romance book, I just kind of wished there was a little more substance to it. Otherwise, it’s alright.

Kinky monster smut, actual emotional stuff, some wisdom, some questing adventure and different cultures, some kindness, some fated mate bonding, a pervert god, and some light fluffy fun. Not bad for 200ish pages, especially considering it’s got decent writing (the kind that is good enough not to be distracting, but not pretentious enough to steal thunder from the story).

Lighthearted and 75% smut. It’s.. fine. The writing is tolerable, plot is fine if cliched and predictable. There’s a lot of sappy nonsense about fate and the meaning of love and communication. Don’t get me wrong, I love sappy nonsense, but in this case it didn’t feel earned-they fell in love in about a week, and most of it was just them having sex. Lots of telling not showing. Could’ve been better in my books if it focused on the world building—the Kueengdom and the Ithaquan deities were cool.
