This was such a great concept for a story. I could imagine it. The writing was amazing at pulling you in and making you feel like you were really on the side of a mountain.
I didn’t love the ick feeling I got when Ashley took money from Chuck.
I wish we got more insight into some of the other characters such as Davis.
I’m not usually into “love at first sight” tropes and this one felt that way. I think this book would have been a solid 4 stars for me had it not felt so “easy” for the main characters to fall for each other.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Were you a 90s alternative kid? Do you like small-town feels, 90s grunge, flannel, a good mixed tape, one hell of an epic love story, and adorable St. Bernard puppies? How about a sexy 53-year-old guitar player with tattoos or a badass 46-year-old divorcee who owns a ski resort? No? Well then, we can't be friends.
An ex-rockstar and recovering addict—who now runs a sober living home—helps a divorced, single mom save her beloved ski resort from being bought by her asshole ex-husband.
That simple synopsis does NOT do this book justice. Because Jess Hardy created a relationship masterpiece with Ashley and Madigan, and Bluebird Basin is such a quaint, dreamy little mountain—I want to go to there. Come As You Are has everything I want in a book. The main characters have real-world, relatable problems/baggage but grow throughout the story. Their relationship is healthy, supportive, and honest. The side characters all have fantastic personalities (that make me want to read their stories), and the plot is believable enough to keep me entertained—and steamy scenes. Don’t forget about those.
If you want a feel-good story with positive messages about everything from addiction to loving your body as it ages, do yourself a favor and pick this book up. I promise you won’t regret it.

Except for the steamy sex scenes I felt like I was reading a Hallmark movie in book form.
Graphic: Sexual content
Moderate: Toxic relationship
Minor: Drug use
Ashley has been struggling to keep her fathers Ski lodge in business but it’s so hard, business hasn’t been doing well. She also has a toxic ex-husband who refuses to leave her alone. Her mom comes up with a brilliant idea to hire men from a nearby sober living. Ashey is skeptical at first, but Madigan, the owner of this sober living, promises her the guys will be on their best behavior. She decides to hire them for the season and sees how it’ll play out. Madigan and Ashely have a strong chemistry that keeps growing. This story was really good and raw. The side characters were all so amazing. I can’t wait for the rest of the series.
