I loved this book! Older MCs (yay for sex and love later in life!), a fierce single mom and business owner, a sober living house for ex-cons and addicts, a dick ex husband trying to steal the ski hill. it dealt well with real life issues like trust and change and growth.
I’m pretty stingy with my five star ratings, but Come As You Are deserves all the stars! Ashley and Madigan’s story is so sweet and endearing and emotional, I loved every bit of it.

Trigger warnings: addiction, incarceration (in the past), toxic relationship, death of a parent (in the past)
Oh, this was delightful. I liked that they're both older protagonists - she's in her late 40s with a college-aged daughter, he's in his early 50s - and I loved the dynamic between them. The skiing aspect worked well, and I really liked the discussion of the difficulties of finding work as a recovering addict, especially one who's been incarcerated, and the need to constantly maintain control for fear of relapsing.
My one criticism would be the fact that it's an extremely white and extremely straight story, and I would have liked to see a liiiiiiiiiiittle more diversity than we got. But on the whole? This was DELIGHTFUL.

This is such a sweet love story! I like that it is Gen X, but readable for any generation (18+ of course). Madigan and Ashley have been through a lot in their lives but I like how well they work together. Although it sometimes takes a little bit of time, their communication is too notch and I love how openly they can discuss their feelings. I also like how Madigan tends to be the person to open up first and break down some of those barriers of “typical” manly behavior. The supporting characters and really good and I love Madigan’s men. The story including recovering addicts adds to the depth and I love how well it portrays the journey to recovery. There are some more spicy scenes (3/5
