Sweet, fun, and a little bit sexy. 

Amina is just such a great protagonist. She’s a mother. She’s a captain. She has wants and needs and flaws. She’s middle aged. She has a weakness for hot men. Honestly, quite refreshing to have such a human main character. 

Great supporting cast of characters,

hot “ex” husband-demon

, and just an overall welcome deviation from the euro-centric fantasy we usually get. I loved much of the world building. I loved the themes. We get explorations of motherhood, family, one’s own relationship with religion, identity. 

Also really appreciate the production value of the audiobook and the amount of research that went into this. Can’t wait for the next two books!
