This book was a great change of pace from most of the romance books that I read! It was so funny, mysterious, and had a great plot with some spice sprinkled in! The audiobook’s narration was great! I had to go back and check several times to make sure that it was only one person because the depth and way he brought several characters to live was fantastic.

Book #77 read in 2025

This book is the perfect blend of mystery and romance. It introduces Detective Rav Trivedi, an NYPD homicide detective who is investigating the murder of a high-profile record exec. His main suspect, Jack, is poised to also be his love interest.

This was a fun, fast-paced queer romance/mystery and I was there for it! I would love for these characters to be part of a series. What do you think, Erin Dunn? Everyone, run out and grab this one!

 This was fantastic!

He's to Die For is billed as a "romantic mystery", and it completely fits that bill. The romance between Rav, the poshest, most British NYPD detective, and Jack, the somewhat reluctant rock star, is tentative and tender and precious. The mystery is twisty and interesting without falling into cliches. And the two are perfectly balanced, you never feel like you're spending too long on either side. I was sucked into the story immediately and had a hard time putting it down. I was thoroughly charmed, and I can't wait to see what we get from Dunn next.

A detective who falls in love with the prime suspect of a murder. What an alluring premise!

I really loved Rav and Jack. They're similar yet so different in various aspects of their so nicely developed personalities. They have huge chemistry and their slow-burn/Forbidden romance is believable. On the other hand, the side characters are perfectly structured, giving more shine to the plot. My only complaint is that the book is written in third person and we can only get Rav's POV. I need Jack's perspective on this story!

A cleverly written book with an excellent comedy timing (the banter is great!) and compelling scenarios that you will enjoy. This is my first book from this author and I want to read more from her because she knows how to tell a story!
